Florida Real Estate - Tierra Verde
In Spanish, Tierra Verde, means “green earth.” For the Spanish explorers of the 1500's, sight of this emerald gem in a sapphire sea must have looked like paradise on earth. Pirates and Buccaneers such as Jose Gaspar and Jean LaFitte, found sanctuary and refuge on this beautiful tropical island. It still has that same affect on visitors and residents today. Florida development began in the 1950s, resulting in a sun-kissed collection of homes, local shops, friendly restaurants and pubs, marinas and many opportunities for water-born fun.
At the southern tip of the Florida island chain making up Tierra Verde is Fort Desoto State Park, the crowing jewel of the state's park system that was just named the number-one beach in the United States by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach due to his 20 years of scientific research of beach systems around the globe. Fort Desoto ranked ahead of Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Hanalei Bay in Kauai, Hawaii. |
